8U Mini Softball
Ages 6 to 8 is an instructional introduction to Softball. The program builds on the fundamentals taught in
Quickball and introduces the fundamentals of Softball. There is no score keeping and games last no
more than an hour and a half. Only 1-2 practices/games a week. There are about 10 games. The spring
season runs from April to early/mid June. Home field is Pickering Field.
10U Minor Softball
Ages 9 and 10 is competitive softball with an emphasis on fundamentals and player development. Introduces ASA rules including sliding and player pitching. In order to allow for more hittng and not discourage new pitchers, coaches come in at ball 4 to finish pitching to the batter instead of walks. Girls are able to steal third base. Games are 6 innings or a maximum of two hours. About 2-3 practices/games per week. There are 10 games, not including playoffs, per spring season which runs from April to June. Home field is Pickering with some games at the Wissahickon Middle School. Opponents may include Whitpain, Upper Dublin, Glenside, Abington, Ardsley, and Roslyn.
12U Major Softball
Ages 11 and 12 is competitive fast pitch ASA softball which builds on the concepts taught in the 9-10 program. Games can be played any day of the week and are 7 innings or a maximum of 2 hours. There are 10 games plus playoffs per spring season which runs from April to June. About 2-3 practices/games per week. Home field is Oxford Park or Wissahickon High School JV field. 15U Softball
